High profile industry figure Toby Potter is to leave Ausmaq in late January to be-gin work with research house Morningstar.

Potter will take on the newly created position of head of business services which will involve business development and client relationships with subscribers, ac-cording to Morningstar managing director Graham Rich.

The move comes as Morningstar puts the final touches to its plan to significantly beef up staff numbers in the next six months with the recruitment of programmers, production and business development staff.

"We are planning on a slew of new staff with the placement of business develop-ment staff in Melbourne and Brisbane, which are new positions in new locations," Rich says.

"Potter will also be part of this expansion and be one of the five member executive team as he brings a unique mix of knowledge and experience of the Australian and New Zealand markets, as well as developing a dealer group and working within an electronic environment."

The addition of Potter and increase in staff numbers is part of the rollout of a planned integration with Morningstar in the USA, says Rich, and is indicative of the ramped effort currently being undertaken.

"The direction of Morningstar will see us rolling out Internet services and products, some strongly interfaced with transaction services. As such, research information and wrap account engines need to be closely integrated for advisers to use this technology effectively," Rich says.
