Metlife names interim Australian CEO



MetLife Insurance Limited has appointed an interim chief executive in Australia to cover the period following the looming departure of Marc Lieberman.
The big insurer announced today that its head of employee benefits, Asia and former AIA staffer, Damien Green, would take on the additional role of interim CEO of the Australian business reporting to Nirmala Menon, head of Designated Markets and Health, MetLife until a successor is found.
The MetLIfe announcement said Green had previously served as AIA’s CEO of Group Corporate Solutions in Hong Kong as well as CEO for AIA in Australia before joining MetLife in his current role.
The company said Green had more than 10 years of insurance industry experience and considerable expertise in group insurance and in-depth knowledge of the Australian market.
Confirming the interim appointment, Menon said Australia was an important market for MetLife and that she was confident Green would work hard to ensure a smooth transition.
