Franklin Templeton Investments has appointed Holly Old as a business development manager (BDM) in its retail advice distribution team.

Old will be responsible for building the organisation's relationships with financial advisers in Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania, the firm stated.

The new BDM has previously worked in that role at BlackRock and was previously at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers.

Old is the sixth addition to the firm's advisory services team in the past year as part of a stated plan to build out the company's presence in the Australian retail market.

Franklin Templeton director of advisory services Jim McKay said Old has "first-hand working knowledge and a genuine understanding of advisers' needs".

"The advisory segment of the market is a key area of focus for Franklin Templeton's strategy here in Australia. We are already seeing strong interest by dealer groups in our investment capabilities and I'm particularly pleased with the calibre of individuals we have been able to bring together as we continue to expand our servicing proposition for advisers," McKay said.

The firm also recently added Olivia Ogilvie as marketing manager based in Sydney, reporting to Joe Marassa.
