Alternative dispute resolution body, the Board of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Australia) has appointed its first chief executive.

The Institute announced this week it had appointed Gianna Totaro to the role.

Confirming the appointment, CIArb Australia President, Albert Monichino, said Totaro had been engaged as a consultant to the body in 2014.

"We are fortunate to have Gianna on board as she is a highly regarded professional whose skills and experience will assist us in generating and promoting more opportunities for the organisation," he said.

Totaro, who has previously worked in management and communication roles in the public and private sectors, has over 15 years' experience in the ADR industry including the Institute of Arbitrators and Mediators Australia (IAMA) and the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA).
