ANZ bank has created a new executive role within its Wealth division, which reports straight to Global Wealth chief Joyce Phillips.

Kerri Thompson has been appointed managing director bancassurance and customer experience for ANZ Wealth to help better engage with potential customers and "deepen the relationships" ANZ has with its existing customer base.

Thompson, who has more than 30 years of experience in the Australian financial services industry, has been managing director retail New Zealand since March 2010, during which time ANZ significantly increased market share in key products and improved customer satisfaction, Phillips said.

"Kerri is an experienced executive with a track record of growing businesses and has a strong focus on building customer relationships," Phillips said.

Prior to joining ANZ, she was a senior executive at General Electric and Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Thompson will be based in Sydney and will commence her new role on 2 December, 2013.
