Morony departs BT
BT Funds Management’s chief investment officer Andre Morony has announced his departure of the group, and will be replaced by former head of real estate Gary Symons.
Morony, who has 30 years experience in the industry, will farewell BT at the end of next February after spending 14 years with the group. He has been CIO for the last four years, and prior to that headed the Australian fixed interest team from 1992 to 1996. He will work with Symons over a transitionary process before his departure.
Before joining BT Morony was a policy adviser for the Commonwealth Treasury for 15 years, including a three-year stint in Paris as Australia's senior economic representative.
Symons takes on the job with 18 years experience in the finance and funds management industry working in various places including the UK and USA.
He has been head of BT's real estate group for the past two years, and moved into the position from Bankers Trust Investment Bank before the two arms split.
Prior to BT Symons worked at Lend Lease as a senior member of its investment management division, where he worked on strategy and research.
In the role Symons will report to BT group head institutional David Fallow and work closely with CEO Ian Martin.
