Challenger has announced an expanded distribution structure intended to ensure targeted services and technical support for advisers recommending Challenger annuities.

After last year creating the roles of annuities specialist business development managers (BDMs), Challenger has created the two new roles of annuity specialist and account manager, which it said will serve as stepping stones for future BDMs.

Account managers will focus on generating new business, while annuity specialists will provide technical support and product expertise, Challenger stated.

Vito D'Introno, Challenger's general manager, retail distribution, said the group is fielding a lot of job enquiries from younger BDMs who see a career path in the growing field of guaranteed retirement income products.
