Trust recruits new head for NZ business

The Trust Company has recruited former Barclays Wealth managing director Ian Burns to head up its Guardian Trust business in New Zealand.

Burns, who was most recently with ASB Bank in a number of senior roles including general manager of private banking and wealth, will start with Guardian in October as executive general manager and country head.

Guardian Trust is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Trust Company and offers corporate and personal services to the New Zealand financial services market.

Trust chief executive Shailendra Singh said the Trust was looking to reposition Guardian for growth in 2014 and would finalise that strategy under Burns' leadership.
