IFM Investors appoints ESG specialist
Industry funds-backed IFM Investors has made a key appointment focused on responsible investment.
The company announced it had appointed environmental, social and governance (ESG) specialist, Chris Newton as Executive Director, Responsible Investment.
The announcement said Newton would work across the investment teams to develop and continue to enhance their responsible investment strategies and support the evolving ESG needs of investors, ensuring responsible investment considerations are embedded in IFM Investors' asset management, investment and reporting frameworks, benchmarked against global best practice.
Newton joins IFM Investors from Australian Post, where he was head of social innovation and development.
Confirming the appointment, IFM Investors chief executive, Brett Himbury, said Newton had extensive experience across the ESG sector and would be integral in providing leadership for IFM Investors in this capacity.
Newton will report to IFM Investors chief commercial officer, Josh Lim.
