Research partner and Lonsec company SuperRatings has determined the finalists across 18 categories, including MySuper of the Year, MyChoice Super of the Year, Retirement Offering of the Year, and Sustainable Fund of the Year.
Australian Retirement Trust has scored the highest number of nominations, emerging as a finalist across 11 categories, followed by Aware Super with 10 nominations, and UniSuper and Rest with eight nominations each.
The Super Fund of the Year Awards program has leveraged SuperRatings’ robust awards methodology for assessing and benchmarking Australia’s leading superannuation funds.
The judging criteria for the award categories are both quantitative and qualitative, acknowledging the range of key factors that contribute towards retirement outcomes for Australians.
Each award category is open to all APRA or state-regulated superannuation funds operating in Australia.
Superannuation funds that are covered by the SuperRatings database are automatically considered.
Finalists for each award category are compiled based on a comprehensive list of criteria.
The SuperRatings research team is responsible for determining the nominees, while the research manager and insights manager will be responsible for determining the winners.
The highest-scoring winner will receive the coveted Fund of the Year Award. This is determined based on its overall peer relative position across all products it offers, with consideration given to its investment performance and processes, fees, insurance offering, digital capabilities, service proposition, the help and guidance provided to members, and governance practices.
Finalists in the Marketer of the Year and Industry Thought Leader of the Year award categories are determined by Momentum Media (parent company of Money Management).
Thought leaders are chosen for championing growth, development, and success by voicing new and challenging ideas, while demonstrating passion and aptitude for propelling their industry to new heights.
Finalists in the marketing category are selected for consistently supporting the super sector by providing services to managers and firms, while demonstrating that their advice has helped improve reputation, best practice, and professionalism in the super space.
All submissions undergo a robust audit process, checking demographic and other information against category eligibility criteria based on the information provided in the submission.
Those submissions deemed eligible against submission criteria are reviewed and assessed by a panel of Momentum Media events and editorial team members and executives (alongside industry stakeholders) to determine the finalists for each category.
The winner of the Best Super Fund award will be determined by a vote by financial advisers.
