CommInsure has made a key change within its executive team, with the return of experienced life industry executive, Frank Crapis who it is appointing as its new head of life product and strategy. Crapis left the company in 2014 to become Head of Client Solutions — Retail, Group and Direct Insurance at Munich Re.

He replaces Sally Phillips who joined CommInsure from Macquarie Life late last year but is now understood to have chosen to move to another insurance industry role better reflecting her medical background.

The changes are understood to have been on foot since early this year and before the recent publicity surrounding CommInsure.

Crapis will report to CommInsure general manager, Life Product and Distribution, Craig Harrison who said he was delighted to welcome Crapis back to the company.

"He brings significant understanding of the Australian life insurance industry and previous experience with CommInsure's retail and wholesale life insurance offering," he said.

Harrison said Crapis would play a key role in the delivery of CommInsure's planned upgrades to its retail product offering and supporting its direct and group insurance customers and clients.
