Former BT Financial Group executive, Darren Whereat, has been appointed to head ANZ's RI Advice Group.

Whereat had previously managed Licensee Select (BT's dealer services business) and was responsible for AdviserNETgain.

"Darren will be responsible for leading an experienced regional management team that is focused on driving even greater growth for RI, building on its strong position in the market and leveraging new capabilities for clients," said ANZ head of aligned licensees and former BT executive, Neil Younger.

"He is a great fit for the business with a deep understanding of self-employed advisers, their businesses and the execution of organisational growth."

Whereat, who will take up his new role in January, said he looked forward to building on the success the RI Advice business has had to date.

He joins the group after Paul Campbell's departure in early December last year, for family reasons.
