US fund manager names Asia Pacific distribution head
California-based employee-owned investment management firm, Causeway Capital Management, has appointed John Landau, a former head of Australasia for Janus Capital, as its new director of Asia Pacific distribution.
The firm manages global, international, emerging market and absolute return equities, with clients including corporations, pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, superannuation funds, public retirement plans, foundations and both private trusts and funds, among others.
Causeway, which manages approximately US$58 billion in assets and employs over 80 people, said it had a number of long-held institutional relationships with clients in Australia.
Causeway’s chief executive, Sarah Ketterer said: “The Asia-Pacific region, including Australia in particular, is an important market for Causeway.”
“We already have long-held relationships and manage considerable assets in the region and John’s appointment provides us with senior representation, an expanded network and proven business development capabilities.”
From 2007 to 2017, Landau was the head of Australasia at Janus Capital Asia, where he established the firm’s Melbourne office and led the Australian operation of the business.
Prior to that, he was a senior manager with the Bank of Ireland Asset Management, where he was responsible for institutional business development in Australasia.
Landau also served as an investment manager with Victorian Funds Management Corporation (VFMC) from 1994 and 1998
