Pengana Capital Group (PCG) has partnered with a UK-based investment manager with a strong focus on responsible investment, WHEB Asset Management LP, to manage the Hunter Hall Global Deep Green Trust.

The trust would be subsequently renamed as the Pengana WHEB Sustainable Impact Fund and would adopt the WHEB listed equity strategy.

WHEB focused on investment opportunities created by the global transition to more sustainable and more efficient economies.

According to PCG’s chief executive, Russel Pilemer, the move would reinforce the manager’s commitment to an ethical and sustainable investment offering.

“WHEB’s investment team has impressive credentials and their strategy is at the forefront of sustainable investing,” he said.

“The agreement significantly complements and enhances our ethical investment offering by providing a fund with a disciplined positive screening process and integrated ESG analysis at all stages of the investment process.”

PCG also appointed Mark Christensen and Chris Tan, from the Pengana Australian equities team, to  manage the Hunter Hall Australian Value Trust (AVT), starting from 1 August.

The investment strategy of the AVT would now be changed to one with a greater focus on generating a high component of the return from income and it would be rebranded to the Pengana Australian Equities Income Fund.

Following this, the fund would leverage fundamental company research with macroeconomic overlays for portfolio construction, with capital preservation preferred over supernormal returns
