Coller Capital launches PE fund on Aussie wealth platforms

Following the recent launch of its Private Equity Secondaries Fund, Coller Capital has made the fund available to investors on several wealth management platforms.
The investment firm – which manages more than $62 billion in private equity, private credit, and other private market vehicles – launched its Coller Private Equity Secondaries Fund last October.
The fund is specifically designed for the wholesale investor market, Coller Capital stated, offering financial advisers and their clients access to a globally diversified portfolio of private equity secondaries, an asset class that was typically the domain of large institutional investors.
In a statement on 15 May, the company confirmed the fund is now accessible to investors on a range of wealth management platforms. This includes Colonial First State (CFS) Edge, Netwealth, HUB24, Centric Wealth, FNZ, Clearstream and Praemium, it said.
According to Coller Capital’s head of private wealth for Australia and New Zealand, David Hallifax, the fund’s availability on these wealth platforms highlights rising client demand for a “pure play” secondaries manager in private equity.
“We are pleased to partner with platforms that share our vision of delivering institutional-quality solutions to a broader spectrum of investors,” Hallifax said.
“This expansion also meets the growing demand from private wealth investors increasingly looking to the private markets to increase diversification and aiming to enhance returns.”
In particular, the fund focuses on mature private equity assets acquired on the secondary market and provides the benefits of secondaries investing, such as accelerated deployment, regular distributions, enhanced diversification, and greater visibility into underlying investments.
Coller Capital is also seeking to make the fund accessible on other platforms in the future, it added.
Commenting on the fund’s launch earlier this year, Jake Elmhirst, partner and head of its private wealth secondaries solutions business, said: “We are excited to bring Coller Capital’s 34 years of industry-leading expertise in private equity secondaries to Australia’s wealth sector, with our first evergreen fund specifically designed for the high-net-worth market.”
The firm stated it would be part of Coller’s broader strategy to expand its private wealth secondary solutions business.
This was supported by the recent opening of its Melbourne office, alongside the appointment of Hallifax last year.
Commenting on the launch in February, Hallifax said: “The Australian wealth market is rapidly evolving, and we believe this fund provides an ideal solution for investors seeking access to private equity without the traditional barriers.
“With secondary private equity poised to deliver compelling risk-adjusted returns and liquidity solutions designed specifically for the private wealth investor, we believe our new fund is uniquely positioned to meet the needs of Australian investors.”
