MercMut seems to have a habit of high flying execs attracting the spotlight and being whisked away by parent company ING.

The latest local to leave our shores is funds management bigwig Paul Bedbrook who will head for Toronto, Canada, following a similar path to Paul Scully who jetted off to join the Asian financial services melee.

The change in role will have other effects on Bedbrook beyond his place of work.

Well known around town as a fashion doyen having made 'general manager biege' a colour all of his own, Bedbrook will have to re-adjust quickly and make the shift from Merc red and white to ING orange.

Will Bedbrooks' love of beige complicate his new affinity for orange hues and more importantly, how will that fit in with that hat? Calvin Klein is rumoured to be standing by.
