Allianz Australia has launched a new specialist marine underwriting agency.

The agency - Allianz Marine & Transit - will manage the underwriting, claims and business development for the company's non-pleasure craft marine business across Australia and New Zealand.

Allianz said Allianz Marine & Transit would complement its industry leading pleasure craft insurer, Club Marine.

The company said the Allianz Marine & Transit agency would be led by specialist marine underwriter, Stephen Ford.

Commenting on the move, Allianz chief general manager for broker and agency business Jonathan Poole said Allianz was the world's largest marine insurer and recognised that specialist portfolios were best served by specialist capabilities housed in focused agency structures.
