Willis Towers Watson has appointed former Westpac head of insurance relationships for financial institutions, Jamie Jeffers, as divisional director of financial solutions in a bid to strengthen Asia Pacific financial services capabilities.

Jeffers joined the Willis Towers Watson team in February but was appointed to the newly-created role following the expansion of the business in the Asia-Pacific. He would report to managing director of financial solutions, Stuart Ashworth.

Ashworth said global commercial, technological and regulatory changes have continued to influence the way in which clients evaluate, measure and manage risk, and the addition of Jeffers to the financial solutions team would aid international and domestic clients in understanding and accessing insurance capacity and capital.

“Jamie has significant experience working with Australian leaders, and understands how the insurance market can interact with, and complement their distribution strategy,” he said.

Chairman of financial solutions, Paul Davidson, said Jeffers’ addition was a testament to the continuing expansion of the business presence in the region.

“We have made a significant investment over a number of years in establishing a highly skilled and experienced team in Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Sydney in order to provide fast, knowledgeable and efficient expertise to our financial institution client base and prompt access to the expanding worldwide underwriting community,” said Davidson.
