Morningstar’s CEO to head research strategy
Investment researcher Morningstar announced its current chief executive officer Anthony Serhan will now be managing director of research strategy, Asia-Pacific for Morningstar’s global research group.
Serhan’s new role will focus on research and analysis on Asia-Pacific securities markets, economic and financial trends, and investment themes.
He starts his role on 1 April.
“We’re pleased to appoint Anthony to this new and key position,” Morningstar’s chairman and CEO Joe Mansueto said.
“His knowledge and experience developing and managing research products and services will be a tremendous asset as we expand our research thought leadership for investors in the Asia-Pacific region.”
Serhan joined Morningstar in 2003 and served as CEO of Morningstar Australasia since 2010. He was previously managing director of Ibbotson Associates Australia.
Heather Brilliant, current global director of equity and corporate credit research, and Mark Roomans, chief operating officer of Morningstar Europe, will become co-CEOs of Morningstar Australasia in Sydney.
They will manage the business together in 2014, and Brilliant will become sole CEO in 2015.
Brilliant spent several years as an equity research analyst for boutique investment firms before joining Morningstar 10 years ago.
Roomans was previously head of new markets, establishing Morningstar’s operations in Mexico, Chile Brazil and the United Arab Emirates. He joined Morningstar 13 years ago.
