AMP Horizons has appointed Michael Pollack as head of practice from May 3.

Pollack will be responsible for driving growth of AMP Horizons. He will report to director Tim Steele and join the Horizons leadership team, according to AMP.

“Michael brings to AMP extensive financial services knowledge and proven leadership in the financial planning industry,” Steele said. “He will play a key role in building a sustainable and scalable operating model for the Horizons practice nationally, which currently employs 51 planners.”

Pollack joins AMP Horizons from ING where he was most recently national dealer group manager — advice, and prior to that worked as head of strategy and advice for the ING Advice Group. He has held senior roles in the advisory and merger and acquisition areas of various professional services organisations.

The AMP Horizons professional year program will also commence in May with the academy’s ninth intake. It involves a 10-week training program consisting of online and structured learning as well as simulations, coaching and eSupport.

Graduates will undertake the program while working in the Horizons practice as financial planners.
