HLB Mann Judd Sydney and MBS Insurance have launched a new joint venture, HLB Insurance Services, which will operate as part of the former’s wealth management division.

The new business would provide personal risk protection strategies for individuals, self-managed superannuation fund clients and business clients.

It would allow individuals to insure their income, families and lifestyles, while business owners can protect the equity in their business, their employees and insure against key person risk.

Jonathan Philpot, HLB Mann Judd wealth management partner said that the product launch was in response to insurance being a key focus area for the firm’s clients.

“The low level of understanding of the personal insurance offering, including the different types of insurance and the level of cover needed, requires a professional solution, something that unfortunately has not been provided by some in this industry,” he said.

“Also, the level of change in the personal insurance market means that insurance is no longer a ‘set-and-forget’ part of a client’s financial plan. Professional management and reviews of clients’ portfolios is vital to ensure their needs and objectives are adequately covered.”

The new business would be led by Andrew Kennedy, who had been in the Wealth Management division of HLB Mann Judd since 2007.

He said that his aim was to make discussion about insurance needs, applying for and claiming insurance as simple as possible for clients.

The new venture formalised a long-standing relationship between HLB Mann Judd and MBS Insurance.
