CFS’s investment sales director joins Platinum
Director of investment sales at Colonial First State, John Steele, has moved over to Platinum Asset Management.
He would take up the role of manager, research relationships at Platinum to lead its engagement with investment and research consultants with a focus on supporting managed accounts.
He would report to Dean McLelland, Platinum’s head of investment specialists (retail).
“I am delighted to welcome John to our team. John’s wealth of industry experience and technical skills will be a valuable asset for our clients,” said McLelland.
“We’re excited by the outlook for our truly active approach to global equities in a time of significant market uncertainty, and I look forward to working with John to ensure more clients benefit from this.”
Commenting on the appointment, Steele said: “It is great to be working with such a reputable firm with a proven track record of delivering strong investment returns for its clients over nearly 30 years.”
Previously, his role of director of investment sales at CFS involved working with family offices, not for profits, and insurance firms to create portfolios focusing on ESG, sustainability, and impact. He first joined the firm in 2016 as an investments business development manager.
Prior to that, Steele was at BlackRock Australia for almost a decade in a variety of roles, representing iShares ETFs and BlackRock’s managed funds to the advised market.
Steele had also worked at Russell Investments for over two and a half years.
