BT Financial Group has appointed Dirk Morris as its general manager and chief investment officer after the resignation of Guy Strapp from the positions.

Previously, Morris worked with JP Morgan and Putnam Investments as well as the Australian Reserve Bank BT during the mid-90s.

BT chief executive Rob Coombe said Morris had a strong track record as a money manager.

“He has extensive experience in the funds management industry and a long-term record of building high performance investment processes,” he said.

Strapp had been in the roles since the integration of BT with Rothschild and Westpac Financial Services in 2002, but resigned to take up a new challenge.
