Fund manager BlackRock has finally appointed the new head of iShares Australia with Mark Oliver to take on the role.

This position had been available since 2009, when Tim Bradbury, former head of iShares, left the role. BlackRock chief executive officer Damien Frawley acted as head of iShares until Oliver’s appointment.

Oliver joined BlackRock in 2008, leading the firm’s distribution efforts across institutional and intermediary channels, and overseeing the consultant and research house relationships.

Most recently, he was head of strategic partnerships at BlackRock.

In his new role, Oliver will be tasked with setting strategy and overseeing all distribution efforts at iShares. He will report to both Frawley and Nick Good, head of iShares, Asia Pacific.

He will be based in Sydney, commencing his role immediately.
