AMP recruits public service mandarin

Former top public servant Peter Shergold will join the board of AMP Limited in May.

Shergold, who has only just left his role as secretary of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, will join the board as a non-executive director.

He is currently the chief executive of the Centre for Social Impact based at the University of NSW.

In an extensive career within the Australian Public Service, Shergold was also the head of the Public Service Commission. Before joining the public service he was the head of the Department of Economic History at the University of NSW.
