AMP Capital has added to its Multi-Asset Group with the appointment of Gary Burke to the new role of senior portfolio manager.

Burke brings over 25 years of experience in funds management to the role, and will take on responsibility for a number of AMP Capital's diversified funds.

In his previous role from 2005 to 2011, Burke was head of investment management for Australia and New Zealand at Mercer.

AMP Capital investment director for multi-manager and investment solutions Sean Henaghan said Burke's appointment was part of a push by AMP to boost the resources of the recently launched Multi-Asset Fund.

"Gary's extensive experience in funds management, and in particular his strong portfolio construction skills, will add significantly to AMP Capital's Multi-Asset Group capability," Henaghan said.

Burke will report to AMP Capital head of portfolio management Debbie Alliston. He joined the firm today.
