BNY Mellon IM launches three thematic funds

BNY Mellon Investment Management has launched three ‘Future’ global strategies focusing on climate change, food production and ageing populations.
The global equity portfolios were the latest in a range of thematic funds offered by the firm.
Future Earth would invest in companies that contribute to helping protect the natural environment and natural resources with sub-themes on efficient infrastructure, resource management and recycling, clean energy, and electric vehicles.
Future Food invested in companies which were set to benefit from the opportunities for new foods and innovations across the global supply chain. This included focusing on population growth, reduction in crop yields and demand for healthier food.
Lastly, Future Life would invest in companies set to benefit from the ageing global population such as healthcare, leisure, financial services, housing and travel. It would also explore the growth in health-related industries such as wellbeing and health innovations.
Paul Bolinowsky, country head Australia, at BNY Mellon IM, said the firm was working to identify areas of structural change for its clients.
“Disruptive change is happening at a record pace across all elements of our lives. We believe that by identifying those changes early and investing in them over the long-term we can capitalise on these structural drivers of growth for our clients,” he said.
“This gives our clients the chance to gain direct exposure to investment themes that we believe will deliver some of the most successful investment outcomes in the coming years. It also allows them to allocate to specific themes where they have most conviction in the long-term trends and will be of interest to investors seeking long-term thematic exposure.”
