T. Rowe Price unveils active management equity strategy in Australia

Global investment manager T. Rowe Price has launched its Global Structured Research Equity Strategy in Australia, enhancing investors’ access to the global equity market.
The Global Structured Research Equity Strategy is an actively managed fund, utilising the stock-selection skills of the firm’s global research platform to deliver diversified exposure to the global equity market for Australian investors.
In particular, it aims to offer a “low tracking error alternative to passive equity allocation” and provide benchmark-like volatility and risk characteristics, along with the additional opportunity for long-term capital appreciation.
Now available in Australia, the fund typically holds between 750 and 1,000 stocks. Namely, the fund’s sector, industry and style exposures are specifically designed to be similar to those of the MSCI All Country World ex Australia Net Index, as such, the expectation with the fund is stock selection will be the primary source of excess returns.
The fund has been launched in both hedged and unhedged Australia Unit Trust solutions in order to meet the diverse needs of investors.
According to the firm, its Structured Research Equity strategies (SRS) collectively manage more than US$88 billion, supported by a team of portfolio managers with an average of 24 years of investment experience.
Speaking on the announcement, T. Rowe Price head of distribution for Australia and New Zealand Darren Hall said: “The Global Structured Research Equity Strategy complements our existing global equity strategies by offering investors a differentiated solution – one that combines the benefits of a benchmark-oriented portfolio with the deep insights and stock-picking expertise of our experienced analysts.
“This enables us to address a broader range of investor preferences and objectives as part of our comprehensive global equities offering.”
