Storms hit Suncorp
Queensland-based financial services group pSuncor has confirmed its insurance exposure resulting from the recent Sydney storms.
The company today informed the Australian Stock Exchange that it had received approximately 9,000 claims across all of its insurance brands following the severe storms that affected parts of Sydney on December 7 and 9.
It said the Suncorp group of companies, including AAMI, GIO, APIA, Vero, Just Car and Shannons, had increased its number of teleclaims staff, assessors and other support staff to help process claims as quickly as possible.
However, it said that with the majority of claims to be assessed over the coming days, it was not possible to provide an accurate assessment of total cost.
