Colonial boss Peter Smedley has been named chairman of BHP's long products business, to be called OneSteel.
Colonial boss Peter Smedley has been named chairman of BHP's long products business, to be called OneSteel.
The new position is Smedley’s second new board appointment this year. He was also offered a seat on the Commonwealth Bank’s board after it made a $10 billion bid for the company.
Apart from his experience in financial services, Smedley is also the deputy chairman with gold miner Newcrest Mining and he spent nearly 30 years with Shell Australia.
