Skandia have announced the appointment of Andrew Black as its new general manager-retail.

Black will oversee all aspects of Skandia’s platform business and commences on January 21 2008.

Chief executive officer Skandia Ross Laidlaw said the appointment will further accelerate the growth of the Skandia platform.

“With this appointment, we have a very strong management team in place in our retail division. Andrew’s skills will compliment those of Wes Gillet, head of distribution who recently joined the Skandia team and Zac Azzi, chief operating officer,” he said.

Prior to the appointment Black was general manager private bank, margin lending and direct shares at St George Bank, leading a team of 180. During his eight years there, Black dramatically increased the profitability of all three businesses.
