Royal and SunAlliance Financial Services(RSAFS) has boosted its Queensland presence with the addition of three new business development managers operating out of the state and the appointment of a new state manager.

Peter Green will take on the role of state manager after having moved up from a senior business development manager role. At the same time, RSAFS has recruited two new BDMs, Ross Henden and Tony Smith, with a third due to be added in the near future.

The appointment of Henden and Smith fills the vacancy left by Green when he took on his new role as well as that of a BDM who has since left the group and moved to Sydney. However, the addition of the third new BDM will expand the sales team in Queensland to six.

Smith says this is a sizeable number for the state but RSAFS was keen to promote itself beyond the image of being a life company and would market the full range of financial services available in the group.

“RSA has always had a strong risk base but we are looking at expanding the funds management side and promoting our business into accountancy practices,” Smith says.

Before joining RSAFS Henden was involved in corporate consulting after having been a financial adviser for 12 years withNational Australiagroup,NRMAandPerpetual Trustees. He started his financial services career as a stock broker in Melbourne.

Smith’s prior experience includes working in information technology (IT) relating to accounting software as well as a number of years as a planner with Legal and General and the South Australian state government insurance office.

RSAFS was formed out of the combination of a number of businesses held by the Royal and SunAlliance group. The businesses have retained their own names and continue to operate in five areas. The groups are Connelly Temple for superannuation, Guardian Trust for trustee services, Life Risk for risk insurance, Optimim for master trust services andTyndallfor funds management.
