Majority of planners hold BA or higher



With several leading institutions looking to raise the bar when it comes to minimum education requirements for their planners, many working in the space already have impressive academic achievements.
The Money Management Salary Survey found that 26 per cent of planners held a BA in Finance, Accounting or Economics, while a further 11 per cent holding another form of BA, 13 per cent had a Post Grad and 12 per cent had obtained a Masters.
When broken down by those working for aligned or non-aligned planning business, a greater proportion of non-aligned planner did not hold a degree (22 per cent), compared with 32 per cent of aligned planners.
The survey also found that aligned planners were more likely to hold a professional qualification (95.5 per cent) than their peers working for non-aligned practices (93 per cent), with 33 per cent of aligned planners saying they had a CFP, while just over a quarter of non-aligned planners had the qualification.
However, a greater proportion of aligned planners said their only professional qualification was the RG146 (39 per cent) compared with 33 per cent of non-aligned planners.
