ING and The Spastic Centre named a winning partnership
The ING Foundation’s partnership with a charitable organisation that helps adults and children with cerebral palsy has won a 2007 Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Community Business Partnerships.
The ING Foundation, which was set up in 1978 to make a positive difference in the lives of disadvantaged Australians (particularly children), partnered with The Spastic Centre in 1999. The foundation has since participated in the charity’s conductive education program, helping children with cerebral palsy learn everyday skills, assisting with fundraising activities and events and providing financial assistance.
The award, in the NSW Large Business Category, recognised the partnership’s long-standing benefits for the community.
ING chief executive Paul Bedbrook said the company encouraged all of its employees to involve themselves with the charity, which has served those with cerebral palsy for more than 60 years, at a “grassroots level”.
“At ING Australia, we recognise the clear link between our business and the social, environmental and economic wellbeing of our customers and the community.”
As a winner in the state category, the ING Foundation and The Spastic Centre partnership has made it through to the awards’ national finals — the winner of which will be announced in September this year.
