Iain Richards to head RI at Threadneedle

Threadneedle Investments has recruited Iain Richards as new head of governance and responsible investment, the company has announced.
Richards will now lead a team of three and will be responsible for environmental, social and governance (ESG) research, policy and engagement on behalf of Threadneedle's investment team.
The company's chief executive officer, Mark Burgess, stated Richards' appointment reinforced responsible investment as one of Threadneedle's key offerings.
Its governance and responsible investment team now includes analysts Catherine De Coninck-Smith and Fionnuala O'Grady.
Richards made a move from Aviva Investors, where he was regional head of corporate governance for almost a decade, but has also worked for Shroder Investment Management and London Stock Exchange.
He will officially join Threadneedle next month and report to head of equities, Leigh Harrison.
