How we found the Most Influential
By Jason Spits
The methodology for finding the Top 10 Most Influential lists was thatMoney Managementcontacted a range of individuals throughout the industry, including those involved with financial planning, funds management, distribution, industry associations, research house and industry consultants and commentators.
They were asked to name those they considered to have, or currently hold influence, in the areas listed above. From this, nearly 100 names were returned and ranked statistically. All those names below a certain ranking were then removed and the shortened list became the basis for a round-table discussion.
At the round-table discussionMoney Managementinvited eight well-known industry figures to debate and create the two lists as they appear in this edition, while the panel was chaired by this paper’s editor.
The panel was Rob Coombe (BT Funds Management), Rob Keavney (ISG), Steve Tucker (MLC), Steven van Eyk (van Eyk Research), Krystyna Weston (Assirt) Tom Collins (The Tom Collins Consultancy), Brett Crowley (Perpetual), Anton Tagliaferro (Investors Mutual).
In the event that members of the panel were also considered for inclusion on one of the lists, Money Managementrequested they not be present by stepping out of the room during the discussion and we thank them for their understanding on this point.
Money Managementwould also like to thank all those in the industry who were involved with the polling as well as the panel for its unstinting effort in creating the lists from a large field of worthy contenders.
