FPA to launch Ask an Expert Week

The Financial Planning Association (FPA) will use an online forum to promote financial advice as part of the Ask an Expert Week, which will be launched on 21 January.
The Ask an Expert initiative used to be a popular feature of the Financial Planning Week in previous years, but FPA chief executive officer Mark Rantall said January was a good time to interact with potential clients.
The initiative will see FPA members use twitter and the association's website to answer financial questions put to them by the Australian public
"It's probably one of the most successful things we do. Everybody makes New Year resolutions, a lot of it is around health and wellbeing, but a lot of it is around their finances," Rantall said.
"Particularly [as people come] out of the back-end of Christmas and ramping up credit card debt, we saw it as a great opportunity to utilise social media and allow consumers to ask our experts relevant questions," he said.
"It's all aimed at promoting financial planning and allowing consumers to put their toe in the water and find out the benefits of qualified financial planning."
In addition to the Financial Planning Week which will be launched in August this year, the FPA will also restart its media campaign in the next few months, Rantall said.
