FIIG Securities offers planners fixed-income investments service
Planner demand has led fixed-income broker FIIG Securities to create a planner services unit focused on sourcing and managing fixed-income investments for clients.
Head of the new unit, Stephen Hart, said the service provides an alternative form of access to fixed income for investors in the retail space, including term deposits, bonds and hybrid securities.
He noted a rise in interest following “the huge outperformance of fixed-income investments over equities and cash” in the year to the end of June, a period in which the Australian fixed-income index returned over 10.75 per cent.
“The role of fixed-income investments in a diversified client portfolio is increasingly recognised by planners, but until now there has not been much support available for these investments,” Hart said.
The new unit will be offering planners education, research and transactional assistance, including a manual written by FIIG’s research team comprised of practitioners.
Hart said dealer groups have been very receptive to the service.
FIIG is also gearing towards launching bonds onto wraps and platforms.
