The 1999 Financial Planning Association (FPA) convention in Sydney is well on track to being the FPA’s most successful one yet.
Chief executive Michael McKenna says an estimated 2,200 enrolments had already been received by the Association in the first week of October.
McKenna says the convention will provide a “great networking opportunity” for those in the industry, and promises the technical aspects to the conference will be strong enough “to stretch people a bit”.
Keynote speakers at the convention include Bill Bachrach from the US, who has served on both the board of the International Association Financial Planners (IAFP) and the Charles Schwab Institutional Advisory Council. Bachrach will speak on value-based selling and building high trust client relationships.
Chair of the CFP board in the US, Harold Evensky, will address the convention on the topic of wealth management. Other keynote speakers include Michael Gerber, Zurich chief global economist David Hale, chief executive officer of SSB Citi As-set Management Group Thomas Jones, US planner Deena Katz and chief invest-ment officer for Merrill Lynch in the US, Gary Lowe.
