From the CEO
The Success Forum Australia 2002 program explores current trends and future directions for financial planning both in Australia and overseas. This year’s convention also provides progressive educational programs and is an impetus for knowledge sharing, new business ideas and networking.
The convention committee has worked hard to bring you the most up-to-date information on global practice and the latest research on industry trends worldwide.
The FPA convention is also a meeting place, which allows delegates to relate to each other in these tough times. It is about business interaction and connectivity, providing the movers and shakers of the industry with the opportunity to come together and spark fresh ideas, which can change our perspectives and behaviour.
It is important that we challenge our mindsets so that our knowledge is not purely technical. As an industry, we need to take a bigger picture of the world and how we fit into it. This year we have borrowed the Success Forum theme from the United States to refresh, update and innovate our program in order to reflect member feedback.
This year’s convention has seen a dramatic increase in the number of female attendees. Previous female attendance had averaged 25 per cent, but this year’s attendance level is around 37 per cent. This is a great result, as it reflects the growing number of women entering the financial planning profession.
This year we also have a record number of media representatives joining us (over 25), along with many key politicians — from Prime Minister John Howard to NSW Treasurer Michael Egan. International representation at the convention is also extremely high this year.
Take the time to visit the expo and the new ‘meeting place’, as this has a great buzz to it during break periods. The cocktail function on the Thursday night and the gala dinner on the Friday night will be memorable occasions for all, as we become caught up in the spirit of celebrations.
Volunteers are the backbone and lifeblood of any association and events such as Success Forum Australia 2002 could not take place without the hard work and dedication of a band of 50 plus volunteers who gave so generously and freely of their time and creative energies in program co-ordination, marketing, social events, the expo and general organisation.
To Peeyush Gupta and his committee we thank you all for making this Success Forum such an enjoyable and productive time for members of the FPA.
