Agribusiness schemes get own star ratings
AgribusinessResearch has released its top-rated investment scheme list with Gunns Plantation Woodlot Project the only scheme to score 4.5 stars.
The agribusiness researcher has picked nine other projects and given them star ratings between four and 3.5 stars.
The favoured projects include Wilmott Forests (four stars), Timbercorp Almonds, Palandri American Wine Business and ITC sandalwood project (all 3.5 stars). Only two of the numerous olive projects this year got top ranking. They were the Barkworth and Timbercorp projects, each with 3.5 stars.
No project achieved the maximum five stars.
The researcher chose the star rating system for agribusiness as it believed people were comfortable with this system. Managed funds researchers have used the star system for years.
Agribusiness Research competitors, such as Property Investment Research, use a lettering system with AAA its highest rating. It has just awarded its first AAA rating to Gunns Plantation Woodlot Project.
Agribusiness Research gave Gunns its highest rating because it was a fully integrated forestry company, says Agribusiness Research managing director Shane Kelly.
“The Gunns project almost guarantees the investor a return, as the company owns its production facilities,” Kelly says.
Kelly says he believes that fewer than 45 projects will make it to market in time to effectively promote their projects this financial year. This is down from almost 80 last year.
