Asset management firm Parametric has announced the appointment of Scott Lawrence as managing director - Australia.

Reporting to Parametric chief executive officer Brian Langstraat, Lawrence will be responsible for the development and growth of Parametric's tax-managed investment offerings in the Australian market.

Lawrence was previously Vanguard Investments Australia head of investment solutions and research. He has also worked with Commonwealth Investment Management, where he was involved with managing index portfolios and transition management projects.

US-based company Parametric stated that it is currently focussed on building its Australian presence.

It was most recently appointed by Catholic Super to provide after-tax performance measurement services for six of its Australian equities managers. Langstraat said Lawrence's role as Australian managing director added to this commitment.

Parametric is a majority-owned subsidiary of Boston-based investment management firm Eaton Vance Corporation, which managed US$184.5 billion in assets as at 31 December 2011.
