Northern Trust appoints APAC leader
Global custodian, Northern Trust has appointed a new leader to its Asia-Pacific asset management business.
The US-based company announced this week it had appointed John McCareins to asset management business across Asia-Pacific.
The announcement said McCareins would be based in Hong Kong and responsible for overseeing Northern Trust's asset management activities across Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.
It said Northern Trust Asset Management's activities in the region included global equity portfolio management and global equity dealing from Hong Kong, as well as investment strategy, relationship management and sales teams based in Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, and Australia.
The announcement said McCareins would report functionally to Wayne Bowers, head of Northern Trust Asset Management, EMEA and APAC and locally to William Mak, head of Northern Trust in APAC.
McCareins has more than 18 years of investment experience, most recently as head of the retirement practice outsourced chief investment officer (OCIO) business within Northern Trust's multi-Mmanager solutions group.
