Mercer recruits from van Eyk

Mercer has announced the senior appointments of Brian Long and Luke Fitzgerald, former van Eyk employees, to provide advisory and research services to financial planning organisations, private banks and platforms.

Long has more than 25 years experience in investment banking, investment administration and custody, investment research and product distribution. He will lead the wealth management team in Australia and New Zealand.

Fitzgerald will also join Mercer in a senior consulting role, focusing on national financial planning dealer groups. He has a business development and distribution background within a variety of industries in both Australia and New Zealand.

Head of wealth management for Mercer’s investment consulting business in Asia Pacific region, Rashmi Mehrotra, said the new hires would foster greater communication and interaction with advisers.

“With ageing populations, increased regulation and a post-GFC environment, financial advisers across the board are demanding more robust and tailored research to ensure they can deliver innovative and compliant solutions,” said Mehrotra.

Both Long and Fitzgerald will be based in Sydney.
