Retirement specialists Allianz Retire Plus has appointed a panel of experts across superannuation, aged care and retirement industry to form the Allianz Retire Plus Retirement and Ageing Advisory Panel.

The panel’s founding members would include:

  • Fintan Thornton (Chair), actuary and head of institutional solutions, Allianz Retire Plus;
  • Dr Deborah Ralston, professorial fellow, Monash University;
  • Nicolette Rubinsztein, non-executive director, UniSuper, Zurich and OnePath Insurance, Class Limited, CBHS Health Fund, SuperEd and Greenpeace; and
  • Sally Evans, non-executive director, Allianz Retire Plus, Healius Limited, Oceania Healthcare, Ingenia Communities and Rest; Member, Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission Advisory Committee.

Thornton said this panel would bring together independent views to help explore the latest retirement trends and developments which would enable collaborative dialogue to really help drive innovation within the retirement sector.

“The panel intends to invite key figures from the industry to represent the wider sector needs, views and market intelligence; while facilitating direct engagement and feedback on growth opportunities,” Thornton said.

"The panel will initially focus on upcoming policy reforms, specifically, advancing retirement strategy to meet the needs of Australians in retirement; and member retention.

“However, the charter is broad and all-encompassing, as we look to continue breaking ground on best-in-class retirement solutions for the Australian market.”
