Van Eyk named among most influential

Head ofvan Eyk researchSteven van Eyk has been named as one of the most influential people in financial services today and rubs shoulders with other industry figures also included in the inauguralMoney ManagementTop 10 Most Influential People list.

The list, published in the latest edition ofMoney Managementand available today, highlights those in the industry considered to have influence at the present moment, while a second list highlights those from the past who have an enduring influence today.

Van Eyk’s inclusion in the list is based on his long-term involvement in the industry, his calls on a number of important issues, as well as the wide reach the research house has within the industry, including its 50 per cent market share.

Among those rated as currently influential alongside van Eyk areColonial First Statechief executive Chris Cuffe for his work with the funds management group.MLCchief executive Peter Scott also received a placing for transitioning the group to the point where theNational Australia Groupwas prepared to buy it, in one of the industry’s largest mergers.

Those considered to be influential over a longer period included Paul Keating for the introduction of the superannuation guarantee, Graeme Morgan for his early work with master trusts and Barry Lambert for his work in promoting financial planning to accountants.

The lists are based on the polling of a wide spectrum of member of the financial services industry as well as feedback from a discussion group made up of eight high profile industry figures who decided on the final line up of the list.
