Mike Goodall

Former ANZ Financial Planning general manager Mike Goodall has been appointed as Sun Life Financial (SLF) Asia’s vice-president, regional business development and bancassurance.

Effective from October 6 this year, Goodall will be responsible for developing new distribution channels in the region, including India, Indonesia, Philippines, and China, with a “strong focus” on the IFA and bancassurance channels.

“I will be working in close collaboration with these countries’ leaders to help develop and execute strategies for expanding their business,” Goodall said.

SLF Asia sales have increased at a compounded annual growth rate of almost 50 per cent during the past five years while profits increased over 30 per cent, according to Goodall.

“With this sort of growth in Asia, the ability for me to use my IFA and bancassurance experience from Australia was just too good an opportunity to pass up.”

He said Inpro Australia, which he launched after leaving ANZFP in 2006, will “continue to be managed by the existing management team”.

The advice boutique’s joint venture with Horsell International, one of Australia’s leading general insurance brokers, will “also continue”, he said.
