Sealcorp outsources tech service

Sealcorp has outsourced the technical information service component of its adviserNet service to Deutsche Bank.

The five Sealcorp staffers who produced the technical information will remain with the group but have a greater focus on adviser support as well as supplying additional technical services.

The 460 advisers who work through the Securitor and Pact dealer groups will have access to the technical service dubbed Desk Caddie through Sealcorp’s existing adviserNet Web site.

The service, which has taken about a year to develop, will be co-branded and supplied by the Deutsche research and technical services team.

It is based on modules which can be adapted by planners for their particular client service needs and provides industry news, commentary on tax, superannuation and estate planning. It also features statutory tables and technical analysis financial planning strategies. The upgraded e-commerce operation will also have the facility to allow online answering of queries by technical staff at Sealcorp.

Sealcorp technical services associate director Tim Gunning says the move to outsource the core research requirements will allow the Sealcorp technical staff to have time for greater contact with advisers.

However he says Sealcorp will still retain technical and research capabilities which would be overlayed on the Deustche information when deemed necessary.

“We have seen the demand for information increase in the last 18 months and in that time have also seen the financial plans going past our technical staff rise from 20 to 120 per month,” Gunning says.

The roll out of the service comes after Sealcorp flagged a rolling series of upgrades to the adviserNet service which was offered free to advisers using Sealcorp products a year ago. New features announced in July include account enquiry screens, portfolio valuation and asset allocation as well as transaction details and information on capital loss/gains of clients.
