Prominent financial services industry figure Kate Mulligan has taken on the role of director of marketing with Sealcorp.
Mulligan takes over the position at Sealcorp from Lisa Henderson and prior to joining Sealcorp was with ANZ Fund Management and Insurance (ANZFI) as head of investment and superannuation products.
In a unique situation Henderson moved across to ANZFI in April, after 12 months with Sealcorp, and is now the business development and marketing general manager.
Mulligan says one of the main features of the position which differs from the previous incumbent is her responsibility for Sealcorp product development and its incorporation into the marketing function.
“This is a change for products to be managed within the marketing area for a consistent, strategic approach”, Mulligan explains.
She says part of her role will be to manage ongoing product development consistent with the overall marketing direction.
Mulligan’s background includes time spent as a senior funds management lawyer and she says an interest in the business side of funds instigated her initial move into marketing.
“I have a technical background and understanding which I think gives me an edge on the marketing side, and marketing is crucial to product development,” she says.
Mulligan has been involved in the industry for over 14 years and is well known for her role in chairing the IFSA Committee on Retirement Incomes, and more recently the IFSA Disclosure Working Group which has been influential in the format of CLERP 6 disclosure rules.
