Helmich takes helm
Steve Helmich has been named as head of distribution in the wake of the departure of Neil Swindells who resigned from AMP to go to AXA a fortnight ago.
The AMP Financial Planning managing director and member of the FPA board will take on the role of head of advice and services, which will give him responsibility for all of AMP's advice led channels as well as services for external financial planners.
Helmich joined Australia's largest dealer group in 1995. AMP Financial Services managing director Andrew Mohl says that since Helmich signed on, AMP Financial Planning's new business has increased 40 per cent and operational expenses have been cut in half.
Helmich took up a seat on the Financial Planning Association's board at the end of last year to replace Colin Scully as the representative for large dealer group principals.
